Stop Leaving Money on the Table

If you’re a business owner, coach, or entrepreneur, you’ve probably said it:

“I know I need to sell… but I don’t want to be a salesy person.”

I get it. No one wants to feel like the pushy used car guy. But here’s the hard truth:

48% of business people don’t follow up more than once.

Yet 80% of business is earned after five or more follow-ups.

So if you’re not following up, you’re not just leaving money on the table—you’re leaving relationships, impact, and momentum behind.

Let’s change that.

Why Follow-Up Matters More Than You Think

A lot of people assume if someone doesn’t buy right away, they’re not interested.

Wrong.

Only 2% of sales happen on the first contact. That means 98% of your opportunity comes from consistent follow-up.

The good news? This isn’t about being annoying. It’s about being strategic.

The 10×10 Follow-Up Plan

Here’s a system I teach my clients that works like magic:

10 follow-ups over 10 weeks.

If you meet someone who could be a great client, don’t just cross your fingers. Put them on your 10×10 plan. Here’s what it could look like:

  • Week 1: Phone call
  • Week 2: Email with a helpful resource
  • Week 3: Text message
  • Week 4: Another call
  • Week 5: Share a relevant article
  • Week 6: Send a voice memo or DM
  • Week 7: Handwritten note (yes, really)
  • Week 8: Call again
  • Week 9-10: Two final emails with value-packed tips

Key point: Every touch should add value. No begging. No “just checking in.”

Give them a reason to remember you.

What If They Don’t Respond?

Then we switch to long-term mode. It’s called the 36-Touch Drip Campaign.

Over 12 months, you stay top-of-mind:

  • 24 emails (biweekly newsletter or tips)
  • 4 phone calls (once per quarter)
  • 3-4 cards or DMs (birthdays, holidays, milestones)
  • Bonus touches: invitations, tips, referrals, client wins

This isn’t about spamming. It’s about building relationships that are still alive when they’re finally ready to move.

The Real Key: Build a System You’ll Actually Use

Look, you don’t need to follow my exact framework. One of my clients runs a 7×7 plan and crushes it.

The best follow-up system is the one you can stick to.

Track your touches in a CRM. Schedule reminders. And most importantly—don’t disappear after one reach-out.

Because when someone finally says, “I’m ready,” you want to be the person who stayed top of mind.
